As a practicing physician and Trustee of Molokai General Hospital for over 50 years, I have had the opportunity to observe literally dozens of Administrators at our Hospital. Janice has exhibited many qualities that the others did not. These included that old trait called “intestinal fortitude”, as well as brains, common sense, and the ability to deal effectively with her employees and associates without creating antagonism. We in the community of Molokai are indeed fortunate to have this outstanding lady directing our forward-moving Hospital.

To a woman possessed with all things “health” on Molokai; to a leader with vision and an ability to see the big picture; to a worker who arrives before everyone else, leave after hours, and works on weekends; to a woman with savvy, style and class; to a paddler who is always on time and ready for a hard practice; and to a friend and confidant– “Aloha & Congratulations, Janice!”

Congratulations Janice – you deserve this and much much more. Your commitment to providing the people of Molokai the care that they need is unparalleled. You’ve been an effective and courageous advocate for health care on the island. It is an honor to work alongside you – you are an awesome friend, role model, and inspiration to me. Thank you for telling me almost 14 years ago “it’s not the end of the world, everything will be OK”. You were the only one that believed in me…THANK YOU!

Janice, For these past many years, you have been charged with overseeing the health and well being of a very special island and community. Your tireless efforts have produced amazing results for both The Women’s Health Center and Moloka’i General Hospital. All of this while raising two great kids, being a partner to a wonderful husband, and serving on the various boards and committees that have also benefited from your mana. What a wonderful role model you are for both women and men. You deserve this recognition! Congratulations…..
